Teen Rescued From Cliff After Spending Night In Rough Terrain

A 17-year-old is hospitalized after his car went off a cliff. Several agencies, including Santa Barbara City Fire, Montecito Fire, Santa Barbara County Fire, and the U.S. Forest Service responded to Gibralter Road near Rattlesnake Trail on Saturday afternoon.

Authorities say the accident happened sometime Friday night. The victim spend the night outside, after failing in his attempt to walk out. His father tracked his location using his i-Phone tracking device, then called 911.

Crews repelled down about 200 feet before reaching the car. The victim was located about 150 feet away complaining of neck and back pain. A Santa Barbara County helicopter was requested to airlift the victim out of the rough terrain.

He was transported to Cottage Hospital. His condition is unknown. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the CHP.
