Family Service Agency fundraiser goes online, hoping for in-person return in 2022

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Family Service Agency has been serving at-risk families, children and seniors in Santa Barbara County since 1899. But like the rest of us, 2020 threw them a curveball.

FSA's annual Cooking Up Dreams fundraiser was canceled twice during the pandemic so the organization is taking a different approach: raising funds with a raffle and giving back to the restaurant industry as well.

"We have purchased gift certificates from restaurants in south, mid and north county and everyone who buys a ticket we are entering them into a raffle and they can win a certificate," FSA's Lisa Brabo said. "What we're trying to do it support the restaurant industry because they have supported us during all of our Cooking Up Dreams events. At the same time that we support the services that are so needed."

Cooking Up Dreams 2021: Recipes for a Brighter Future campaign contributes to our struggling hospitality industry while continuing to help FSA meet the changing needs of the vulnerable people in our community.

Sponsors and participants will receive a booklet with recipes from selected local establishments. Additionally, all participants will be entered into a drawing for gift certificate from a local restaurant valued at $50, $100 or $150.
