Pismo Beach police invite community to “Virtual” 5k Run with the Cops

PISMO BEACH, Calif. - The Pismo Beach Police Department invited members of the community to join them for a virtual 5k run on Saturday at the Pismo Beach Police Department “Run with the Cops” event.

The event is free to join and will be recorded on the police departments Facebook page facebook.com/PBPDRunwiththeCops and Instagram @PBPDRunwiththeCops.

Participating officers will post videos, pictures and run times throughout the day as they complete their individual 5k (3.1 mile) runs either near the station, in their own neighborhoods, or on their home treadmills.

Community members are encouraged to participate by posting their own updates on their runs throughout the day as well as engaging with other participants on social media.

Police are also encouraging everyone who participates to post a final "post-run donut eating picture."

The Pismo Beach Police Department “Run with the Cops” event began 6 years ago, in 2014, with the goal of bringing the department and the community together. It has since continued as a beloved bi-annual event.

The event was previously held at the Pismo Beach Police Department, however, due to the current health and safety orders the department decided to hold the run virtually this year.
