Look for the Helpers: chalk art honors first responders, high school seniors get ‘adopted’

Chalk Tribute
A Santa Barbara artist is using her incredible talents to pay tribute to health care workers.
Meredith Morin drew images of nurses on her driveway with chalk. Morin said she wanted to honor those people working on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Adopt a Senior
A Facebook page is connecting high school seniors with people in the community.
A woman named Lauren Pearce who graduated from Lompoc High School in 2009, started a page called Adopt a Senior at Lompoc and Cabrillo High School because she felt bad about seniors missing out on graduation, and all of the activities that come at the end of senior year.
Parents or the students put themselves up for "adoption" by posting their photos and a little bit about themselves on the page, then someone volunteers to adopt them.
The person who adopts a senior sends that teen gifts based on their hobbies and likes.
So far the page has nearly 2,000 members and plenty of seniors have already been adopted.
Couchella Part Deux
The people at iCLU Radio at California Lutheran University produced "Couchella 2" over the weekend.
This time they had several performers including Nichele Filoso, Josh Damigo, Young Quicks, Julien Martinez and Emily Strange. DJ Spencer Fischer hosted and also played a set.
The sequel to the first event had double the viewership and festival founders said music continues to lift everyone's spirits.
