Santa Barbara County and organizations need volunteers to help count the number of people experiencing homelessness in Santa Barbara County.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - Santa Barbara County, the Santa Maria/Santa Barbara County Continuum of Care and Northern Santa Barbara County United Way are requesting volunteers to help with the 2020 Homeless Point-In-Time Count which takes count of individuals and families currently experiencing homelessness in the county.

The Count is taking place on Jan. 29 from 5:30-8:30 a.m. Experts will accompany teams of volunteers as they traverse assigned routes and document people experience homelessness along those routes.

The information from the count will be used to plan local homeless assistance systems and raise public awareness. All volunteers will be trained to help with the count.

The Point-In-Time Count Trainings will take place on the following dates and locations:

  • Carpinteria/Summerland: 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23
