Bill Libbon Elementary School: Students on campus at brand new facility

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Tuesday marks the first day on campus for kids at Bill Libbon Elementary School.

School administrators and staff members were especially excited, because it's a brand new facility built just a few months ago.

As soon as kids got off the bus early this morning, they received a warm welcome from staff members with music playing in the background.

The kids are the first to return to in-person instruction on school campus.

During break time, they got a special visit from former director Bill Libbon of the Boys and Girls Club.

"My hope is for the kids to be back at school and just to enjoy the new facility," said Libbon.

"My hope is to bring excitement back on campus, and bring back that excitement for learning, and just being there with the kids," said principal Colleen Lathery at Bill Libbon Elementary School.

All the kids coming back to school today are preschool, transitional kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade students.

Most students will be on campus two days each week to ensure everyone's health and safety.
