Lompoc High School track & field project on schedule for May opening
LOMPOC, Calif. - The Lompoc Unified School District says the community track and field project is still on track to wrap up in May.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held at Lompoc High School in December to kick off the work.
District officials say much of the demolition work is now done, and crews are now grading the interior track and field.
“Byrom-Davey and R.L. Construction have been great partners. We are on schedule and are excited that we will have the stadium available to students and the community this school year.”
Doug Sorum, Director of Maintenance and Operations for Lompoc Unified
The work is still scheduled to be done on May 28th.
“We have already started working with our community partners to plan a healthy activity grand opening for the stadium. Having this stadium available for our students of all ages going to be a game-changer for our student-athletes.”
Trevor McDonald, Superintendent
Much of the old track’s alluvial clay was collected and stockpiled at the District’s central yard to be used at other campuses.
