SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Axxess Card is saving its users money while raising funds for local causes.

On Wednesday, The Axxess Card announced that its 2020 fundraising driver raised $638,266 for local schools, organizations and nonprofits in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.

From September through December, Axxess Card works with Montecito Bank & Trust to identify groups to partner with. The groups then sell the Axxess Cards and keep a portion of each sale. $13 of the $40 purchase in Santa Barbara County is sent directly to each group, while $11 from the $30 purchase is donated in Ventura County.

142 schools, groups and nonprofits took part in Santa Barbara County. 106 participants were in Ventura County.

“We’re proud to be a hub in our communities and of the real and lasting contribution, our fundraising efforts make to schools and non-profits. It’s great to know that a small company can make a huge impact — It’s a community-wide effort,” said Axxess founder and CEO Karim Kaderali in a press release.

Kaderali says Axxess has raised more than $3 million in donations since 2004.

Axxess is a membership program in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. Members purchase an Axxess Card and become eligible for a number of deals with participating merchants. The company has been in operation for 21 years.

In 2019, Santa Barbara Axxess acquired Ventura Axxess and now operates as one company. Next year, Ventura County will use the same pricing structure as Santa Barbara.

In April, Axxess is launching a new program which will allow a portion of sales utilizing the Axxess Card to go directly to a group of the cardholder's choice. Scan for Schools will generate $0.05 for every redemption a member makes with an Axxess Merchant.
