Why are you running for office? |
I'm running for office to give my fellow neighbors and the residents of the Historic Downtown/Railroad District a representative who understands their need and a voice in City Hall.* |
|
What makes you qualified for this position? |
I'm qualified for this position because I'm an educated and informed citizen of San Luis Obispo who has advocated for the restoration of Cheng Park. In addition, I volunteered to lead SLO in Bloom which is a part of America in Bloom and advocates for beautification of cities through education and community involvement. As a result of SLO's participation the guest judges stated that the current condition of the downtown trash receptacles had an affect on the beauty of the area. As a result, the city applied and received a grant to replace them with the new beautiful receptacles which now allows the city to recycle in a more efficient way. |

What are the two hardest issues facing the candidate who wins the office you are running for? |
The two hardest issues facing the candidate who wins is balancing the wants of powerful lobbyist with needs of the residents. |

How do you plan to address the issue of inflation and its impacts on your constituents if elected? |
Inflation is a complex issue. I intend to address the cost of living aspect of inflation. Whether you're a small business owner, run a non-profit or a regular citizen just trying to buy groceries and have access to affordable housing the cost to live in SLO is a issue to most of us.* |
|
What major crime issues do you plan to address if elected and how? |
The major crime issue I plan on addressing is petty theft and disturbance of the peace. I have sat in on city council meetings and many residents are concerned about the petty crimes in their neighborhoods and those committed against them. Most importantly, they're concerned about their quality of life. |
|
How do you plan to address the issue of housing if elected? |
I plan on continuing to attend community gatherings like those hosted by Councilwoman Andy Pease.* These events were held at The Penny. Members of the community were able to talk about the issues surrounding Affordable Housing and the need to preserve the history and charm of SLO. |
|
What do you hope to accomplish in your first year in office if elected? |
I plan on creating a special commission on aging. A life long goal of mine is to live to be 100. After watching the Netflix documentary Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones, I became convinced that I could accomplished that in SLO. Blue Zones are areas in which there is a high concentration on centenarians living in a certain region. I became certain SLO could become the second one in California. |
|
What actions do you plan to take to reduce political divide? |
I plan on hosting get-togethers and invite people from all political views to parties and have them get to know each other personally. It's easy to dislike someone you don't know. I believe we have more in common than not. We all love SLO, our family and the environment. That's a wonderful place to start a conversation.* |
