PATH Santa Barbara boosts staff for more homeless services

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – PATH Santa Barbara, an interim housing program, is offering more services for the homeless thanks to a recent increase in staffing.

For nearly a year, PATH Santa Barbara has struggled with staffing.

“It was really tough. Working in homeless services is always a really tough job. When you’re doing it without enough staff it becomes more difficult … nearly impossible," said regional director Liz Adams of PATH Santa Barbara.

But now the nonprofit organization is making progress with new key staff members supporting its mission to end homelessness.

“The recent hires have been really great for Path Santa Barbara. Now we can really see a bright future for the program for the guests who stay with us … for the participants who participate in other programs," said Adams.

J.V. Vallejos has been hired as the new associate director of philanthropy and community affairs.

"My role focuses on the volunteers and the donors here. I like to develop strategies on how to grow our support here at the organization," said Vallejos.

The organization also hired Gabi Rigonati as the new community affairs coordinator, managing all volunteer and community engagement opportunities.

"I'm really excited to be working with our volunteers. It’s amazing to work in this community where so many people have so much passion and inspiration helping those in need," said Rigonati.

Now that path has increased its staff they’re hoping for community support.

The PATH team hopes to create a rooftop garden, beautify the downstairs courtyard and to add recreational activities.

"My hope is to create a healing space … through providing a garden," said Adams.

"If we could find a partnership and support from the community they would be the main goal in really trying to get this program … up and running," said Vallejos.
