Former Hells Angels leader George Christie tells his story in “Outlaw: A One-Man-Show”
The Ex-President of the Hells Angels is telling his version of his life story in a show entitled “Outlaw:A One-Man Show.”
“This is like a like a very intimate personal setting, I feel like I am letting it all hang out,” said George Christie.
Young members of his audience may not know much about him, but baby boomers are likely to recall him riding a Harley Davidson, carrying the Olympic Torch in 1984, and hosting a Hells Angels reunion at the chapter clubhouse in Ventura, California in the 1990s.
“We had our fiftieth Hells Angels anniversary start in San Bernardino, where the club started, but it somehow segwayed up to Ventura and it turned into a big world run and, ya know, one of the things we did is we went to City Hall and took a picture with Hells Angels from all over the world there, and it didn’t city to well with some of the city fathers,” said Christie.
An indictment followed but only led to a year behind bars in 1997.
Christie was also behind bars on 9/11 and had to be told what happened the country that day.
A plea deal led to a prison stay in Texas before he parted ways with the Hells Angels in 2011
Christie said it felt like a divorce.
Christie now in his 70s, has outlived one of his sons and has a daughter who is a lawyer.
He lives in Ojai with his wife and teenage son.
His show set to rock and roll and punk music covers a lot of ground.
“Outlaw: A One Man Show” runs through Thursday at The Center Stage Theatre (http://centerstagetheatre.org) and then heads to Palm Springs.
