New Principal named at Cabrillo High School

Cabrillo High School will have a new leader at the helm when classes begin in August. Isidro Carrasco, currently Assistant Principal at Roseville High School near Sacramento, will become the new principal at the high school in Vandenberg Village.

Carrasco began his career as a bilingual elementary school teacher in 1989. He has taught at schools in Texas and California. He’s been principal at other high schools, most recently at Mission Oak High School in Tulare.

“I am confident that the Cabrillo community is passionate about success for its students and my goal is to fuel that passion so that our students have the greatest opportunity to succeed during and after high school. I am so looking forward to working with all stakeholders to ensure that all of our Conquistadores are successful and have a great high school experience, ” Carrasco said.

Carrasco’s new boss will be Lompoc District Superintendent Trevor McDonald.

“We are very fortunate to have a new principal for Cabrillo High school with the background and experience that Mr. Carrasco brings to his new position. We are confident that he will always put students first in his decision-making and will set a positive tone for students and staff alike at Cabrillo High School. We look forward to his instructional leadership taking Cabrillo to new heights,” McDonald said.

Carrasco replaces Jeff Wagonseller who was placed on administrative leave in September, 2017, just after the beginning of the school year. An interim principal has been leading the school since then.
