Canopy Club medical marijuana store closer to Milpas Street opening
The Canopy Club medical marijuana store has cleared what could be its last big hurdle prior to opening at 118 Milpas Street in Santa Barbara.
An appeal over paperwork issues by resident Pete Dal Bello was rejected by the Santa Barbara City Planning Commission. The issue had already gone to a hearing officer who did not find substantial problems.
The owner, Ryan Howe and his team were scolded during the process for not having all of the paperwork the city was looking for in this hearing. The void was not enough to delay the process or lead to any further snags in the operational plan.
One conflict involved the names of operating officers for Canopy Club and who was ultimately in charge. Some papers conflicted.
The site appears ready for the final installation equipment and displays for sales.
The city still needs to issue an operating permit and it’s likely the request will be made immediately.
Once open the business will be operating six days a week in daytime hours.
Security cameras have been added inside and out, including at the doorway, and on the side of the business which is located in a mixed business and residential zone.
