Santa Paula plane crash leaves two men dead
The victims in a Santa Paula plane crash over the weekend have been identified.
The plane left early Saturday from Rosamond Skypark Airport in the Antelope Valley and crashed close to the Santa Paula Airport.
The victims Ted Dopler of Palmdale and Jody Smith of Lancaster died from multiple blunt force injuries they suffered in the wreck.
The National Transportation Safety Board is looking for witnesses who saw Saturday’s crash. Anyone with information can reach investigators by e-mailing witness@ntsb.gov.

A small plane crashed into an outbuilding and burst into flames on Saturday afternoon, killing two men on board.
Investigators are looking into the crash that happened off of South Mountain Road near 12 St. in Santa Paula, on the day before Easter.
The owner of the Santa Paula Times said she heard the victims described as older men.
“It occurred Southeast of Santa Paula at approximately 2:15 p.m. when the fixed wing, single-engine plane, a kit plane, crashed into a residential area, in the rural farmland that surrounds the river, ” said Peggy Kelly.
The Santa Paula Airport is nearby.
