Coast Village Road businesses close again during mandatory evacuation order
Shops and restaurants frequented by locals and tourists are weathering another mandatory evacuation in Montecito.
Coast Village Road is closed and so are businesses including the Montecito Inn and Lucky’s restaurant.
Alejandro Garabay of Santa Barbara said, “It is kind of sad, but I think everything is with one purpose, for safety.”
The Point Market and gas station closed on Wednesday night. It is usually open at all hours of the day and night.
Vons near the roundabout was one of the few places open. Shoppers recall it staying open during the January 9th disaster, too. They said they know hourly working in the area are hurting financially.
Josiah Taylor said, “I feel for them, the last four months just hasn’t been the way it should be”
Officers from a number of agencies are on duty protecting lives and property. First responders plan to allow people back into the area when the storms clouds clear.
