Santa Maria wins CIF Div. 6 Championship for the first time in 60 years

The Santa Maria baseball team beat Moreno Valley 9-0 in the CIF championship game on Saturday winning the title for the first time since 1957.

Junior Trevor Garcia pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts.

“I’m proud of the boys,” said head coach Rick Hebert. “The city is ecstatic back home in Santa Maria. Everyone has rallied behind us. Our stands were packed during the playoffs, and this is a win for everyone.”
