Family searching for missing Lompoc man

A Lompoc man has been missing for five days now and his family is desperate for answers. 27-year-old Zachary Wilks was last seen on Wednesday.

Wilks was last seen at his home on Prune Avenue in Lompoc. Earlier today we spoke with his mother on the phone who is desperate to find out where her son is.

What we know is that he was headed to Las Vegas Wednesday evening but never made it. He was going to drive through the night and arrive there Thursday morning where he was meeting up with his aunt and uncle there in Vegas.

From there they were going to travel to Lake Powell where Wilks was going to do some work for his aunt and uncle on the family houseboat. When Wilks never showed up this past Thursday morning in Las Vegas, the family began to get concerned.

“I was encouraging him to leave as soon as he could because of the long 7-hour drive to Las Vegas so I was very worried about him leaving that late,” Zachary’s brother Andrew Wilks said.

Wilks says this is uncharacteristic of his brother.

“He has not done anything like this in the past, this is very uncommon,” Zachary’s brother Andrew Wilks said.

“Those roads between Lompoc and Las Vegas are so well traveled that I can’t imagine he hasn’t been reported in an accident by now,” Zachary’s brother Andrew Wilks said.

Wilks says his brother doesn’t have any major medical issues. He was driving a black 1994 Honda Civic with distinct Acura rims and the California license plate number: 7SGR202.

“If anyone sees him or the 94 Honda Civic just please tell him to call someone or report him,” Zachary’s brother Andrew Wilks said.

His mother says this is very uncharacteristic, very out of the ordinary for her son to disappear like this. She says sometimes he can be hard to get a hold of for a couple of hours, but never five days.

No one has heard from him and calls to his cell phone go straight to voicemail. His bank cards haven’t been used.

His brother says he thought his brother was a little tired when he left.

“He seemed very tired, he seemed very tired when he left, he was up all day packing his room and saying bye to his associates and friends and being gone for a few months required a little bit so he did get out of here pretty late,” Zachary’s brother Andrew Wilks said.

Wilks has been missing for five days now.

A missing person report has been filed with the Lompoc Police Department, contact them if you have any information at 805-736-2341.
