Police warn against phone scam in Lompoc
A report of a phone scam in the city of Lompoc has prompted authorities to warn the public against any calls asking for money on behalf of the police department or Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
The Lompoc Police Department said they received the report through their app. The caller told the Lompoc resident that they were calling on behalf of the police and Sheriff, and asked for $125 dollars to sponsor an advertisement in the police yearbook.
“There is no police yearbook,” Lompoc police said. “If anyone receives this call about this is a scam.”
Police are telling the community not to provide the caller with any personal information or money. Anyone with any questions can contact the Lompoc Police Department at 805-736-2341.
