Sailboat washes ashore at Ventura Harbor

A 33-foot sailboat washed ashore south of Ventura Harbor Thursday evening.

At around 7:00 p.m., the sailboat was attempting to leave the harbor when the boat’s engine died.

According to Ventura Harbor Patrol, the boat was pushed back to the shore by heavy wind and choppy waters before it ran aground in the sand.

Coast Guard responded to the call to help unload two people and a dog who were on the boat.

KEYT received viewer video that showed the boat stuck in the sand, being battered by waves.

The two people on board and the dog were uninjured.
