Santa Barbara County Fire engineer Sky Bonillo tells Reporter Vicky Nguyen the fire was put out within 10 minutes of the crew’s arrival.
“At the time of the event, there were 3 small children along with a babysitter inside the structure. They fortunately were able to get out of the home in time escaping any type of injury. They stayed out the entire time, called 911 and allowed us to get in and do our job,” said Bonillo.
Firefighters cancelled their request for the Red Cross after the children and nanny found a place to stay nearby.
