Surfers could catch more than waves after storms

Public health officers are issuing water warnings.

They recommend avoiding water contact for three days or 72 hours after it rains. Rainstorm runoff can carry waterborne pathogens such as bacteria and viruses.

They can cause skin irritation, and respiratory and intestinal problems. Surfers drawn to large waves right after a storm may regret it.
