“Growing Pains” star visits TV Hill on Election Day

He was one of America’s ‘favorite dads’ while he starred on the hit-80’s sitcom “Growing Pains.”

Alan Thicke dropped by the FOX-11 show on Election Day to discuss his involvement in ProCon.org.

ProCon.org is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that focuses on giving a balanced perspective on controversial issues affecting our country including immigration, abortion, whether or not the Washington Redskins should change their name, etc.

“I’m seeing the importance of a good education,” said Thicke who stresses fact-finding. “I’m proud of ProCon that approximately 30% of the people who go to the website end up changing their mind.”

The Emmy-nominated actor, composer and television host recently moderated a debate for the ProCon.org in Santa Monica that focused on Proposition 64 — a measure that could legalize marijuana in California.

Thicke also spoke about his work on the reality mockumentary series “Unusually Thick” now in its third season on SLICE. Much of the series is shot throughout the 805 in Montecito, Goleta, and Santa Barbara.

Thicke, who was born in Canada, has strong ties to the Central Coast community. He’s a resident of Carpenteria and one of his sons attended high school at Laguna Blanca in Santa Barbara before heading to college at USC. He’s also the father of pop and R&B star Robin Thicke.
