30 foot boat runs aground in Ventura

A man and his dog are safe after their boat ran aground Friday.

Ventura City Fire Department spokesperson said they responded to a boat in distress at 9:48 a.m. at Ventura State Beach between Sanjon and San Pedro.

Ventura Harbor Patrol and lifeguards were already assisting the man once fire engines arrived on scene. The man’s 30-foot cabin cruiser boat had the anchor come loose and it ran aground on the shoreline.

He and the dog were not injured. California State Parks and the United States Coast Guard officials are working with the boat owner to salvage the boat and prevent any hazards.

The cause of the incident is under investigation. State Parks officials said a whole was found in the boat.
