Carpinteria neighbors help catch hit-and-run suspect
A hit-and-run crash in a Carpinteria neighborhood was caught on camera around 10:30 Wednesday morning
Joe Boxley said he installed three surveillance cameras to catch people breaking into cars along Camino Trillado, but this week he caught a hit and run driver walking away from his truck.
Video shows the truck crashing into a similar truck parked across the street. Watch the video below.
Neighbors and another driver, who had been sideswiped, helped deputies find the suspect. They said he had been drinking.
Officers have not released the name of the suspect or the charges. Neighbors said they are certain he will DUI and felony hit and run charges.
They said they are thankful children were not in the area, like they usually are before and after school.
