Oxnard resident pleads guilty to manslaughter in heroin death

Oxnard resident Allen Rosales, 26, pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Mendez, the Ventura County District Attorney announced on Thursday.

On October 22, 2015, Rosales bought heroin from an unknown source and gave it to Mendez, who was Rosales’ cousin. After using the heroin, Mendez became comatose and died the next day.

Rosales faces a maximum sentence of four years in prison. Sentencing is set for November 17 at 8:30 a.m. in Ventura Superior Court.
