Coasthills Credit Union builds 200 bikes to donate

Cranking out positivity in the community, that’s what Coasthills Credit Union does each Columbus Day.

This year, they assembled 200 bikes for foster children in C.A.S.A. or Court Appointed Special Advocates.

“We make a difference in our neighbor’s lives – and so we say it, it’s a mission statement but it’s great to see all our employees actually believe in it, believe in the mission statement and are willing to volunteer their time to make that difference,” Social Media Officer for Coasthills Credit Union, Joshua D. Scroggin explains.

Not all of the employees have built a bike before, but it all impacts them the same way.

“If I was one of those kids I would cry, I mean I received one of these bikes and they’re amazing and beautiful. I think it’s gonna make them feel really awesome that it is a brand new bike,” Jamie Majewski, Member Services Officers tells us.

Once these bikes are delivered, the kids in C.A.S.A will be able to cruise on to a better future.

“Sometimes kids are taken in the middle of the night from their current residence and put into foster care and they don’t have the means to be able to take all the belongings they would want to to their new situation; what we hope to do by building these bicycles is give something to these children that’s theirs,” Scoggins says.

All of these bikes were quality checked by Tailwinds bicycle club, to make sure they don’t fall apart when the children ride. On Thursday the C.A.S.A office in Santa Maria will be getting 60 of the 200 bikes built.
