Orcutt Woman Charged in Residential Burglary Spree
44 year old Wendy Snow is accused of at least six, daytime residential burglaries in Orcutt, allegedly taking cash and jewelry from her victims.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department says the most recent burglary took place in the same neighborhood earlier this week.
The victim immediately posted the alleged crime on the Orcutt Neighborhood Community Watch Facebook page which the Sheriff’s Department followed up on leading to Snow’s arrest on Tuesday.
The Sheriff’s Department says Snow allegedly targeted homes with unlocked doors or open windows that made it easy for her to get inside.
Orcutt residents we spoke with were aware of the recent spike in burglaries.
“Just walking around the neighborhood and seeing people I don’t recognize anymore”, says neighborhood resident Cindy Linfield who is taking extra precautions to keep her home secure from potential burglaries, “I now have locks on my gates, motion lights, I try and secure the place a little bit better, everything is locked.”
“I recently joined Neighborhood Watch, we’re on Facebook now, and we post what we see”, Linfield says, “I’m going to keep my guard up a little bit more now, be a little bit more cautious, I’m gonna keep my eye open.”
The Sheriff’s Department says it has recovered some items of stolen property in this case.
Wendy Snow remains in Santa Barbara County Jail with her bail set at $50,000.
