Father Of Veronika Weiss Arrested During Gun Protest Sit-In

The father of one of the 2014 Isla Vista shooting victims said although he grew up during the 1960s protest era he had never been arrested until this week.

On Tuesday, he joined a “No Bill No Break” sit-in with the relatives of others gun violence victims in the Capitol Rotunda.

Weiss said a majority of voters support a no fly no buy gun bill.

He said there is a disconnect between voters an politicians and that he will keep fighting to prevent other people from losing loved ones.

Weiss held a photo of his daughter Veronika during the protest that brought him to tears.

The 19-year-old was an athletic UCSB student and sorority member with an interest in economics when she was gunned down by a Santa Barbara City College drop-out with a history of emotional problems. She was among six students killed. Three of them were shot to death, the others were stabbed to death in the killer’s Isla Vista apartment.

Weiss said he posted $50 bail and after a few hours in custody was able to catch a flight back home to California.

He said he is looking forward to the Concert Across America to End Gun Violence on Sunday Sept. 25.
