Suspicious Device at Oxnard Walmart Prompts Evacuation

Oxnard police need help identifying the individual in the photo above. They say that person is a possible suspect in an incident Saturday morning that prompted the evacuation of the Walmart located at 2701 Saviers Road.

Police and Oxnard fire personnel were dispatched to a suspicious device found at the Walmart. Once on scene, they located a bowl containing a mixture of bubbling chemicals. The bowl also had an electrical cord, which was plugged into an outlet, dipped into the substance, according to the Oxnard Police Department.

Walmart was evacuated as a safety precaution while the Oxnard Fire Department’s Hazardous Material Unit examined the device. They eventually determined the substance was non-energetic and the device was removed from the scene.
