Arrest Made in Ventura Vehicle-to-Vehicle Shooting

Ventura police have arrested 23-year-old Juan Antonio Ortiz after authorities identified Ortiz as the alleged suspect who fired at a victim’s car while traveling in the area of Oyster Street and Seaview Avenue.

Police say that on May 24, four victims had a brief encounter with Ortiz and an unidentified female suspect at the McDonald’s restaurant located at 2137 E. Harbor Boulevard. The victims told police Ortiz followed them in a white Ford F150 after they drove off the McDonald’s parking lot.

After unsuccessfully attempting to loose Ortiz in the area of Oyster Street and Seaview Avenue, the victims told police Ortiz allegedly fired a single gunshot as he passed their car striking the victim’s car.

No one inside the victim’s car was injured.

Ortiz was located in the area of Barry Drive and Ventura Avenue and taken into custody on Wednesday, according to police.

Ortiz was booked into Ventura County Jail for multiple felonies including shooting from within a vehicle, assault with a firearm, and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

Police say the female suspect has not yet been identified. She is described as a Hispanic woman between 18-20 years old, about 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 105 pounds with red/orange streaked hair.
