MTD Making Changes to Bus Service in Carpinteria, Santa Barbara and Goleta
The MTD (Metropolitan Transit District) is proposing new changes to the current bus service it provides in Santa Barbara, Carpinteria and Goleta. The new changes will be implemented in August 2016.
Among the proposals, MTD wants to add more bus trips to Line 20, which runs between Santa Barbara and Carpinteria during weekdays. MTD hopes that by adding more trips, service time between the two cities will be reduced from the current 60 minutes to 40 minutes.
Line 7’s service will be extended across the Fairview bridge and provide direct service between Old Town Goleta and many popular area destinations every 30 minutes on weekdays and every 60 minutes on weekends, while Lines 8 and 9 will be eliminated.
MTD is also adding Line 28 to the service. The new route will provide frequent service between UCSB, Isla Vista and the Camino Real Marketplace.
