Foodbank Turning Away Donations Due To Lack Of Space

The Foodbank of Santa Barbara County turns away 2.2 million pounds of food or the equivalent of 1.8 million meals per year due to lack of space at its Goleta location.

So this year, the Foodbank is looking for a new South County home for the holidays and all through the year.

Foodbank CEO Erik Talkin said they rent an administrative office on State St. in Santa Barbara and would like to consolidate operations under one roof.

Talkin is going public with Foodbank’s wish list.

The locations needs to be at least 20,000 square feet with access to the freeway and parking for cars and trucks.

The nonprofit is still accepting holiday donations, but hopes to have a much larger warehouse to move into in the new year.
