Banister Fire Burns 50 Acres In Simi Valley, 75% Contained

The Banister Fire in Simi Valley is 50 percent contained Thursday morning, according to Ventura County Fire.
Officials say the fire has burned 40 acres in a rural area above the community of Wood Ranch. No homes are threatened.
VCFD expects full containment by Thursday afternoon.

Ventura County Fire reports forward progress has slowed and the fire is at 20 percent containment.

A brush fire broke out in the Wood Ranch Hills area of Simi Valley, Wednesday.
Crews from Ventura County Fire responded to a call for flames just after 5:30 p.m.
The 40-acre Banister Fire is in the foothills that separate Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks between Westlake Boulevard, Long Canyon Road and Kanan Road.
Crews are attempting to establish a line around the fire and have requested air assistance from Los Angeles. Officials said they called in multiple engines because the fire is difficult to access and has the potential to grow.
Ventura County Fire said no structures are threatened and wind is not currently a factor. Over 100 fire personnel are on scene.
