Rocker Plays Past Bowl Curfew
A conditional use permit requires musicians to stop performing at the Santa Barbara Bowl by 10 p.m, but that didn’t stop Neil Young on Saturday night.
Fans said he talked about playing past the curfew on stage.
Young reportedly stopped around 10:40 p.m.
Bowl manager Rick Boller said the rocker has played the bowl before and knows the rules.
Boller would not say how much Young might be fined, but did say it could prohibit him from being asked back.
Young’s “Monsanto Years” tour is about breaking the rules.
The rock star handed out organic seeds and urged the crowd to spread the seeds where they don’t belong.
Young is outspoken against genetically modified foods.
Young owns a sailboat in the Channel Islands harbor in Oxnard, just a few miles from one of Monsanto’s seed companies.
The publicity might give his new album more buzz.
A compilation of live performances goes on sale next month.
“My Morning Jacket took the stage at the Santa Barbara Bowl Sunday night and reportedly ended right on time.
