Lompoc Car into Building Hit and Run Case Solved

Photographs taken after the hit and run collision last Thursday night reveal the major damage it caused to Kim’s Jiffy Food Store on North Avenue in Lompoc.

A board covers up the large hole in the south wall of the store where business has since returned to normal.

Lompoc Police say 25 year old Anthony Torres of Lompoc has admitted to the hit and run.

Just before the hit and run collision, Lompoc Police say security cameras captured Torres at the Valero gas station at the corner of North and H Streets.

Torres then left the gas station and somehow lost control of his pickup truck slamming into the side of Kim’s Jiffy Food Store right across the street.

Police say the security camera video made the difference in tracking down Torres.

“It was good enough quality for us to identify the vehicle and the driver”, says Lompoc Police Officer David Garza who investigated the case, “Kim’s video showed the impact inside the business and there was actually a couple of people inside the business when the car went through the building.”

No one was hurt inside the store.

Damage to Kim’s Jiffy Food Store is expected to be in the thousands of dollars.

Anthony Torres was not arrested and is expected to be charged with misdemeanor hit and run.
