Ernest Righetti High School Proposes Futuristic Classroom Complex’s
Ernest Righetti High School is proposing a futuristic 38-room classroom complex located in the center of campus.
The new structure will include learning tools from the district’s “Classroom of the Future,” which feature moveable whiteboard walls, big screen monitors that can display from the teacher’s tablet and desks and chairs with wheels.
A digital video tour of the facility was shown to the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District Administration and the Board of Education this week.
The video displayed the three-story structure, and will be posted to the SMJUHSD website Thursday.
“Most classrooms are out of date,” said Superintendent Dr. Mark Richardson.
“We must educate our students in a setting that will emulate the experiences they will have in life,” he added.
Righetti parent Meredith Brough believes that the new facility will enhance the learning environment for students in the future.
The design was created by Rachlin Partners, an architectural firm based in Culver City, CA.
The preliminary design has 38 spaces including four spaces that can be combined for a large area.
The goal of the project is to increase permanent classroom capacity, eliminate portable classrooms, and advance new technology.
Construction is expected to begin in May 2016 and be completed by December 2017.
