Gary Woods Dies at 60
There will be a void around local baseball fields this spring as former Major League Baseball player Gary Woods died of a heart attack on Thursday at the age of 60.
He was a scout for the Chicago White Sox and a coach on the Santa Barbara Foresters so Woods was a regular at high school and college games.
He graduated San Marcos in 1971 and played at Santa Barbara City College. He played nine years in the majors on four teams (Oakland, Toronto, Houston and the Chicago Cubs).
He was inducted into the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Hall of Fame in 1994.
