Voting Underway for November Election
Voting has begun for the November 4 election, and some ballots have already been cast.
The vote by mail ballots arrived at post offices throughout California today and will be in the hands of voters starting tomorrow.
Elections officials in Santa Barbara County also say you can now go to the counter at their office, request your ballot on the spot, and vote without waiting for the mail. Once that ballot is received, no other ballot will be accepted. The process has been adjusted in recent years to make it easier for voters to be involved in the election process if they are not able to make it to the polls on election day.
The deadline to register to vote is October 20.
The county has 115,000 vote by mail ballots being sent out. There are 195,000 registered voters. The number is expected to increase with the voter registration drives underway at local colleges including UC Santa Barbara which just began classes last Thursday.
