Containment Begins in Ventura Brush Fire

Ventura City and County Fire is working to put out a brush fire in the area of Harmon Canyon located near Foothill and Kimball roads.

Officials said the forward progress of the fire has stopped. The fire is 35% contained and crews are expected to remain on scene through the night for final containment.

The fire began around 1:15 p.m. Monday. Multiple air tankers made water drops on the flames.

Ventura City fire said the water helicopter refilled for water drops from the Kimball Community Park.

Officials said the fire burned less than 50 acres of medium brush.

Authorities said Foothill Road between Kimball Road and Saticoy Avenue are closed to traffic due to the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No structures have been damaged and there have been no injuries reported.
