Carpinteria Theater Holds Fundraiser for New Movie Screen

The locally produced, award winning film, “The Bet” will be shown twice Saturday at the Carpinteria Plaza Playhouse Theater as part of a fundraiser to buy a new movie screen.

The theater’s non profit staff says it currently only has a 12-foot by 12-foot screen for movies now.

With a larger screen the community can enjoy a wider selection of films.

They hope the bulk of this money can be raised with this fundraiser.

“About $20-thousand dollars, that will then get us this beautiful true wide screen which will be approximately 20-feet across and about 14-feet high,” said Peter Bie with the theater group. “Then we can show the great classic films of the day that were designed to be seen on a much wider screen.”

The Bet will be shown for a matinee price of $10. at 2 pm. A much bigger gala will take place Saturday evening.

It will be a $50. event with a food and wine pre-movie reception, that includes a meet and greet with movie director and actress Finola Hughes.

The 1920’s era theater has only 198 seats and tickets for the two shows can be purchased in person at the Curious Cup Bookstore in Carpinteria or on line at: http://plazatheatercarpinteria.com/
