Fish And Wildlife Officer Rescued After Car Falls Off Cliff

A Fish and Wildlife officer is in the hospital after he drove his car off a cliff in a remote area of Santa Maria.

Emergency crews responded to the Miranda Pine area off Highway 166 just after 5 a.m. on Saturday.

They found a Department of Fish and Wildlife vehicle 300 feet down the side of a cliff. A 49-year-old officer was inside.

Crews used a rope system to pull him up. He was transported in a helicopter to Kern Medical Center. He suffered moderate injuries but is reportedly in stable condition.

It’s unclear what caused the officer to drive off the road.
