“Yachts of Love” Charity Regatta a Success

The Santa Barbara Yacht Club was the scene for the “Yachts of Love” charity boat regatta.

Since its inception, the regatta has raised over $700,000 dollars for Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care.

Lynda Tanner, President of Visiting Nurse said “This is one of our biggest fundraisers. It really is a special day.”

Hospice care is usually a topic that is difficult for people to talk about, but today’s fundraiser allowed people to come together to talk about the issue.

Trish Davis, co-chair of the celebrity skipper program, said “it’s the one day that everyone in this town can come together for this cause.”

It was estimated that the race would raise over $150,000 dollars, bringing the total money raised to close to a million dollars.

Over 300 people took part in the festivities , and at the end of the day Santa Barbara is the perfect venue.

“It’s just a great day for the event and we are happy to be a part if it,” said Tom Parker, Chairman of the Regatta.
