New Texas-style barbecue pit draws crowd

A former Nashville musician is now a Ventura restaurant owner.

Steve Spittle enjoyed Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in Texas so much, he decided to open his own franchise in his new hometown.

Dickey’s had a line out the door during its first day of summer opening day.

Guests enjoyed pulled pork sandwiches for just $1. They also had three chances to win free barbecue for a year.

Dickey’s is at 6100 Telegraph Road across the street from Buena High School.
