Max Factor heir returns to court
The great-grandson of makeup legend Max Factor is fighting for his freedom.
Andrew Luster is 10 years into a 124-year sentence for the videotaped date-rapes of three sedated women.
An appeals court ruled, years ago, that Andrew Luster lost his right to an appeal when he fled to Mexico during his trial. Months after Luster’s 2003 sentencing, Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman found Luster in a Puerta Vallarta bar.
Luster filed a legal action called a writ of habeas corpus claiming he was denied effective counsel. The writ led to this month’s hearing in a Ventura County courtroom.
Luster’s new legal team chose not to comment on the hearing. But attorneys taking the stand were questioned about his defense and whether there was any talk about a plea agreement.
Judge Kathryne Stoltz is presiding over the hearing
