Westmont continues to dominate GSAC Basketball

Westmont College grabbed at least a share of the GSAC men’s basketball title with a 63-54 win over The Master’s College. Ranked 6th in the latest NAIA poll, Westmont got 21 points from senior Preston Branson as they improved to 10-1 in the Golden State Athletic Conference.

They lead the GSAC by three games with three league games left. The Warriors are 22-4 for the season.

As for the women Warriors, they make it 13 straight wins behind another strong effort from Tugce Canitez. Before the game she was honored as the NAIA Player of the Week for the second straight time and third time this year. She went out and scored 28 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in Westmont’s 77-66 victory over No. 10 The Master’s.

Canitez had help from Esther Lee who sank 7-of-9 three-point shots while scoring 25 points for the Warriors who are now 11-0 in the GSAC and 21-3 for the year. They lead the conference by two games with three league games remaining.
