Butterfly Beach Brush Fire

MONTECITO, Calif.- Late Monday afternoon the man arrested was identified as Clay Sherrill. He was booked for misdemeanor reckless burning. No homes were threatened by this fire.Santa Barbara County Sheriff detained a man for questions regarding the start of the fire. It appears the man started a warming fire that got out of control. A small vegetation fire broke out among bamboo and ice plant. It happened below the 1100 block of Channel Drive on Butterfly Beach at 11:36 a.m. on Monday. The fire was started on the beach and traveled uphill on the bluff.According to Montecito Fire Protection District the fire was knocked down just after 12 p.m. It was contained at a quarter of an acre.
