Shark Warning Signs Go Up Again

The Santa Barbara Harbor Patrol confirms a fisherman spotted a 10-foot shark, possibly a Great White, near Goleta Beach on Sunday.Shark warnings signs are being posted again along local beaches telling ocean swimmers to enter the water at their own risk. They will stay up for 72 hours unless there’s another confirmed shark sighting.The signs had been up most of last week after three Great White sharks were spotted at beaches from Carpinteria to Santa Barbara. The largest was an estimated 14 feet long near Leadbetter Beach in Santa Barbara. A surfer reported the shark swam within five feet of him. The warning signs that were posted after those sightings just came down Saturday afternoon.Marine mammal experts also tell KEY News that several sea lions have turned up recently with wounds that were clearly inflicted by Great White sharks. They also believe there is more than one shark because each one that’s been spotted is a different size.Stay tuned to KEY News for the latest on this story.
