Santa Barbara Woman Remembered

Family and friends gathered on Saturday to remember Santa Barbara resident Sherry Hicks. The memorial was held at Calvary Chapel in Santa Barbara, where Hicks was remembered as a loving wife, mother and soon-to-be grandmother. Hicks worked for the Olive Grove Charter School in the Los Olivos School District. The 52-year-old was struck and killed by a truck in Walnut Creek earlier this month, while visiting her son and his new wife. Witnesses say they were walking near the Marriott on North Main when a speeding truck jumped the curb and slammed into them. Her daughter-in-law was also hurt, but is making progress. The driver, 53-year-old Hossein Tabrizi, from Walnut Creek was arrested and faces charges of vehicular manslaughter and gross negligence.Hick’s family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to “DAWG”, the Dog Adoption and Welfare Group of Santa Barbara.
