EOS Lounge Joins State Designated Driver Program
A specially made non-alcoholic drink recipe at the EOS Lounge in Santa Barbara has been picked by the State Office of Traffic Safety as part of a statewide menu the agency hopes will save lives. It is part of a growing Designated Driver Program.”It’s nice to provide the look of a non alcoholic drink without having alcohol in it,” said Whitney Van Pelt with EOS Lounge. A lot of people ask the bartender to make a drink that looks like they are drinking a cocktail, “but there’s no alcohol in it,” said Van Pelt. He says many customers are requesting something other than mineral water with a twist of lime when they are not drinking alcohol like their friends. The creative, and colorful non-alcoholic drink options are now catching on.Chris Cochran with the State Department of Traffic Safety says EOS joined a statewide contest for non-alcoholic recipes and it won with a tasty mix. The ingredients include San Pellegrino Limonata, muddle raspberries and crushed ice. It’s served in a glass that appears to look just like an alcoholic drink.The Office of Traffic Safety is posting many non alcoholic drink recipes on its official page and its Facebook page. Social media exposure is part of the next phase of the designated driver promotion.”If there’s five people and one is not drinking the alcoholic beverages, the others can feel free to have even more because they know they are going to have a safe ride home,’ said Cochran.KEY News Senior Reporter John Palminteri has the story.
