Two Teens Back in Custody After Escape Attempt

Two teens are back in custody tonight, after escaping and prompting a massive search. It took several local law enforcement agencies, a helicopter, and a K-9 unit, to track down the two 17-year-old boys.

The teens were among a group from Los Prietos Boys Camp, a minimum security facility for troubled teens. According to officials at the camp, the teens were at Zodo’s Bowling Alley for a speaking engagement.

At some point during the event, the boys walked out the front door. That’s when juvenile probation officers, Santa Barbara Police, and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department began a search. Several streets were locked down.

The teens were discovered in a yard on Agana Drive, a quiet neighborhood off Patterson Road. Both boys were captured peacefully. Neither was armed, and no one was hurt during the incident.
